Dr. Zahi Hawass concluded this eventful week with the final awards ceremony in Milan, Italy, where he was awarded the Star of Social Commitment. The Italian Foundation for Culture and Solidarity holds an annual event to celebrate those heroes in the fields of culture, arts, journalism, humanities, and human rights fields. Dr. Hawass was the only foreigner to be awarded this prestigious award throughout the past nine years of holding this ceremony. He was chosen for his efforts in the fields of antiquities in Egypt and for succeeding in making Italian people fall in love with ancient Egypt and the pharaohs. He is famously known in Italy as the “Last Pharaoh.” Dr. Hawass also emphasized in the press conference that followed the 2000 year old relationship between Egypt and Italy.
