Highlighting 160 years of Egyptian-American cooperation and friendship with this recent find of a letter dated 1862 from the U.S. Consul to Mohamed Said Pasha, Wali of Egypt and Sudan and son of Mohamed Ali. In the letter the U.S. Consul is asking for assistance on behalf of a U.S. citizen and her two children and Mohamed Said Pasha is acknowledging and approving the request. A routine diplomatic exchange between two friendly countries, but one that continues till today as U.S. citizens travel to Egypt to enjoy the wonderful history and beauty of this country.
