Day of the Archaeologists Awards Ceremony

On Monday January 17th, The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities will celebrate the Day of the Archaeologists at the Cairo Opera House at 6 pm.
Zahi Hawass, the former Minister of Antiquities, creates a prize every year to be given to the best archaeologist of the pharaonic period, the best restorer, and the best Islamicist. The prize is 15,000 Egyptian Pounds for each and a certificate.
Those chosen by the committee this year are:
Afifi Roheim, who is a field archaeologist of the Golden City, an excavation supervised under Dr. Hawass. The discovery of this city was chose by many major magazines such as Life and Archaeology as the best discovery in the world for the year 2021.
Ahmed Mohamed El-Eman, was chosen as the best restorer because of his skillful work on the Temple of Khnum at Esna.
Atef El-Dabah, who is in charge of the team that restored the Citadel of Qaitbay and Salah El-Din Citadel and the monastery of Saint Mina (Deir Mar Mina) as well as the world undertaken in Cairo.
Dr. Khalid El-Enany the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and Dr. Zahi Hawass will present the prize.
