On August 1st, Dr. Hawass was presented as the guest of honor at the Magna Graecia Film Festival, which is held this year at the beautiful Italian city of Catanzaro. Hawass was awarded the Golden Pillar award for his contributions to Egyptology and making the public all over the world fall in love with the history of Egypt. Hawass stole the show with his appearance on the red carpet. The Mayor of Catanzaro and the Director of the Film Festival presented Hawass with a glass statue in recognition of his esteemed efforts in the field of culture heritage and preservation.
