Hawass calls for saving the Cleopatra’s Needle of London

After his recent visit to the UK, Zahi Hawass expressed his dismay at the state of the  Cleopatra’s Needle of London. The obelisk which is one of a pair that Mohammed Ali Pasha gave away as gifts, now suffers from a lack of restoration. Hawass called for a proper site management for the site of the obelisk and he appealed to the love the British people have for Egypt to save this ancient Egyptian monument from deterioration.
