Painting from the tomb of King Amenhotep III, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty – Western Valley 22, Western Thebes, Western Valley – This scene from the tomb of Amenhotep III, WV 22 (Western Valley), shows the king receiving the ankh, the sign of life, from the goddess Hathor, who is facing him. Hathor is shown here in the shape of Imentet, the Mistress of the West (land of the dead), with the sign of the West on her head. The King is wearing the headdress with the ureus on his forehead. The goddess Nekhbet is shown above the king and his names protect him.
