Details of the ceremonial chariot, from the Funerary Equipment of Tutankhamun – New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty – From Western Thebes, Valley of the Kings, Tomb 62 – (Carter 120), Cairo, Egyptian Museum – The six chariots, which Carter found in the tomb of the Golden King, Tutankhamun, demonstrate a combination of creative and technical skills. These pieces, made of gilded wood, were parts of the chariot accessories, a pair of blinkers and Bes-headed discs. They probably belonged to the chariot numbered by Carter as 122, next to which they were found, in the southern end of the tomb’s antechamber.
