Detail of a bed with lion legs, from the Funerary Equipment of Tutankhamun – New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty – From Western Thebes, Valley of the Kings, Tomb 62 – (Carter 80), Cairo, Egyptian Museum – Detail of a bed made of wood and painted white that was possibly used by the living. The bed stands on carved lion legs, a decorative element common in Egyptian furniture. Linen bands were woven across the bed to support the mattress.
