From A Secret Voyage by Zahi Hawass and Sandro Vannini
Relief in the Temple of Hatshepsut, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty – Western Thebes, Deir el-Bahri – Historians estimate that the boats sent by Queen Hatshepsut to Punt were 25 meters long. Here we can see one of the boats of the royal expedition. As this scene on the voyage to Punt shows, the Ancient Egyptians paid great attention to the representations of the Red Sea’s environment, with its great variety of fish. The scene also gives an idea of how the Egyptians navigated at sea.
