Painting from the Tomb of Roy, Royal scribe – Reign of Horemheb, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty – Theban Tomb 255, Western Thebes, Dra’ Abu el-Naga – Tawy, Roy’s wife, was the ‘chantress of Amun’. In this scene she holds the Sistrum, one of the most important cult objects, a musical rattle related to Hathor. The name Sistrum is derived from a Greek verb meaning “to shake”.
