From A Secret Voyage by Zahi Hawass and Sandro Vannini
Ostracon, probably King Ramesses IX – New Kingdom, 20th Dynasty – From Western Thebes, Valley of the Kings – Cairo, Egyptian Museum – This Ostracon for King Ramesses IX is a nice example of drawings left behind by ancient artists who were being trained in their craft. The style needs refining and the proportions are not yet ideal. As these were drawn for training purposes, there are several images combined here in one: the king riding his chariot in battle; and the king smiting enemies of Egypt.
