Painting from the tomb of King Ramesses III, New Kingdom, 19th Dynasty – King’s Valley 11, Western Thebes, Valley of the Kings – The period of King Ramesses III is well known for wars against the sea-people of the Aegean. His victories inspired the King to decorate two whole rooms in his tomb with depictions of offerings from those foreign regions whilst the walls of his mortuary temple at Thebes in Medinet Habu also celebrate these victories.
