Painting from the Tomb of Sennefer, Mayor of the Southern City – Reign of Amenhotep II, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty – Theban Tomb 96, Western Thebes, Sheikh Abd el-Qurna – Meryt was the ‘beloved one’ to her husband Sennefer, therefore she appears with him in most of the scenes in the tomb. She is offering him here a necklace with a scarab. She also presents him with the three signs of Ankh, the symbol of life, and Djed, the symbol of stability, power and dominion.
