Head of Amenhotep III, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty – From the Temple of Karnak, Eastern Thebes – Cairo, Egyptian Museum – This limestone head of Amenhotep III represents him as a young man with a round face, almond-shaped eyes, curved eyebrows, with a small nose and mouth. This head was found in the Karnak temple in 1906. The pharaoh wears the blue crown, which is decorated with small circles. Kings usually wore this headdress during times of war and during special religious ceremonies. The uraeus can be seen on the King’s forehead.
