Painting from the Tomb of Kha, Chief in the Great Place – Reign of Amenhotep II, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty – Theban Tomb 8, Western Thebes, Deir el-Medina – This beautiful lady is probably Kha’s wife Meryt. When Schiaparelli found the mummy of Meryt, he noticed that her body was not mummified and wrapped carefully like Kha’s mummy, with which he also found the earliest copies of the Book of the Dead on coloured papyrus.
